BOTOX FOR JAW REDUCTION, TEETH GRINDING AND FACE SHAPING

London City Skin Clinic, London and Beaconsfield

At London City Skin Clinic, discover a treatment to reduce and soften the Jaw muscles.

For either aesthetic (prominent square jaw) or medical reasons (e.g. Bruxism  teeth grinding), we can soften and contour your Jaw line without the need of surgery!

Non-surgical Botox for Jaw Reduction

Excessively wide jaws create the square shape of the face. While the square jaw may be desirable in men, it is not easily accepted or desired for a feminine appearance.

If you place your hands at the angle of your jaws as you clench your teeth down, you will feel the bulging of a muscle. This muscle, called the Masseter Muscle, is often a cause of the widened jaw and over-activity of the muscle also causes teeth grinding.

Botulinum toxin injections weaken the muscle, hence improve teeth grinding. The injection can also significantly reduce the size of this muscle and make the lower part of the face narrower. The benefit is the cheeks look slimmer! And give more of a heart shaped face.

What is Botox?

Botox (Botulinum toxin) is a purified protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum. It relaxes muscles by temporarily blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles. This reduces the muscle activity that causes lines and wrinkles, but can also benefit nerve impulse to muscle blocking in other areas such as the jaw.

How does Botox reduce the size of my jaw?

Botulinum toxin relaxes the injected muscle, which leads to a reduction in the size of the muscle itself.

The aesthetic effect of reducing the muscles of the jaw line is only truly appreciated in the right candidate. Our Doctor will personally evaluate your face before deciding if you are suitable to have this treatment.

Who is an appropriate candidate to have this procedure done?

The most important criterion to decide if you are a good candidate is the activity of your Masseter Muscle (jaw muscle). The relative thickness of the Masseter can easily be determined by biting down hard and feeling the outer jaw line. If the muscle appears to be hard and enlarged in appearance when you clench your teeth, you may be a good candidate to have this procedure done.

When will I see the results and how long will they last?

Generally, it takes about 2-3 weeks before you see the desired results. They will last between 4-8 months

At the end of the first week you may notice that your jawline feels a lot softer when you bite down and feel it, but this will settle down quickly.

What is the recovery like?

There really is no recovery period or significant swelling or bruising. The treatment takes only five minutes as a clinic procedure.

Will I have problems chewing my food?

Most patients do not have this problem. However, you may experience some tiring after chewing for a short while. This phenomenon is only temporary and will go away within 10-14 days.

Does the procedure hurt?

The procedure is relatively painless, and involves a few injections on each side of the face.

When I will get the result for excessive teeth grinding (Bruxism)?

The result for teeth grinding can be experienced within 1-2 weeks. Regular treatments every 4-6 month will generally provide longer lasting and more effective results as the muscles will become less active.

How much does the Botox for jaw reduction treatment cost?

The cost of the treatment is dependent on the size of the jaw muscle as well as the amount of product required to achieve the desired result.
