"Combining science and art with natural facial proportions"

As your skin ages, it loses the support structures that shape it. This leads to volume loss, wrinkles and folds in the skin.

Treatment Overview

Dermal fillers are injectable products that soften and correct lines, and replace the volume lost in the skin. They are commonly used to augment and enhance the lips, cheeks and facial contours for a fresher, more relaxed and youthful appearance.

The most common dermal fillers used are made of hyaluronic acid(HA), which is a natural sugar molecule in our skin, and along with collagen, forms the building blocks of healthy tissues.

Dermal filler can be used:

  • To enhance facial contours; cheeks, temples, jawline, nose, chin.
  • To define or enhance lips.
  • To soften facial wrinkles or folds.
  • To restore lost volume in hands to reduce the appearance of ageing crepey skin.
  • To rejuvenate hollows under the eyes.
  • To improve the tone, texture and hydration of the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

There are a variety of dermal fillers on the market, which vary in their composition, however the most commonly used material is hyaluronic acid (HA). Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that occurs naturally in many body tissues including the skin where it has important functions maintaining structure and hydration. Hyaluronic acid binds to water in the skin, locking in moisture. As we get older the amount of hyaluronic acid in skin gradually diminishes which in part is responsible for many of the appearances of skin ageing. It has been used safely in medical applications for many years.

Injected hyaluronic acid is slowly broken down in the body, and when skilfully used the results are subtle and will look natural. We never use permanent fillers.

The procedure may be a little uncomfortable but is not usually painful. Certain areas, such as the lips, can be more sensitive. However, here at London City Skin Clinic, we do everything we can to make your experience as comfortable as possible, and can use skin numbing cream, where necessary.

You are advised not to exercise for 24 hours after treatment, and to avoid excessive heat such as sauna and steam for 48 hours. You are advised not to touch the treatment areas with your hands for the first few hours to prevent any infection, and to avoid alcohol for 24 hours to minimise the risk of bruising.

We will provide you with further aftercare advice personal to you. Most people are able to continue with everyday activities. Some will have some redness, or swelling which should settle within a few days.

All treatments carry a degree of minor risk, the most common of which are redness, swelling or bruising. Any risks and complications will be discussed with you at consultation. We only use premium, safe and regulated dermal fillers that have been approved by the US FDA. As your treatment will be administered by an aesthetic medical professional with specialist training, adverse events are uncommon.
