Treatment Overview

Worldwide, more than 6 million Botox treatments take place per year.

Botox can be used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines over the upper part of the face such as the forehead, the glabella (frown lines between the eyes) and the lines around the outer corner of the eyes (crow’s feet). Using advanced techniques, Botox can also be used to treat the lower face for indications around the mouth, jaw and neck.

Botox injections are quick, safe and effective.

If you’ve noticed lines around your eyes, frown or forehead, Botox can help treat, and smooth out these areas before permanent lines appear. Frequently Asked Questions

Botox is the trade name of a form of Botulinum toxin and is a purified protein. Botulinum toxin has been safely used in the medical profession for many years, for example, treating children with eyelid spasm and squints. In the field of aesthetic medicine, Botox has been used successfully since the 1980’s.

In cosmetic procedures a small amount of diluted Botox enables controlled relaxation of muscles to smooth wrinkles and lines on the face. Botox stops the chemical messenger between the nerve and the muscle, hence stopping the muscle contracting. This is temporary as new nerve endings will reform, and muscle activity will resume again.

This will be assessed during your consultation. There are very few complications with treatment, but if you are pregnant/breast feeding or have certain neurological/immune conditions, unfortunately you will not be suitable for Botox. We can discuss this further should you require.

The needle used is extremely fine and treatments have minimal discomfort.

Small areas around the injection sites will need to be cleaned. If this is an issue, a light mineral based makeup can be reapplied immediately after.

Results often begin between 3-7 days, but complete results may take up to 10-14 days. Any tweaks that may be required to the treatment, can be done between week 2-3.

The effect of Botox usually wears off after 3-4 months. The minimal interval between repeat treatments is 12 weeks. Most people may consider 3 treatments in the first year, and then continue 2-3 per year depending on their desired outcome.
